The setting was lovely and it was very quiet and peaceful. Near enough to Killarney town whether driving or taking a taxi. Owner helpfully called taxi both evenings for us for short trip into town. Also gave us info on area and a map which was great if you intended to explore the area. Also lot of books in the house on Ireland and other countries, good library.
This house could definitely do with freshening up. The paintwork is dark and dreary, think light and air and you could still keep within the style of the house. Our room was very small. Also the bedding was old, however the sheets were very clean, blankets are okay but these days duvets are very inexpensive and a lot warmer and cleaner- as in hygienic - not sure blankets are, both nights we woke up feeling cold, room was also chilly one evening on our return and in fairness to the owner when It was brought to his attention he turned on the heat, but you can't turn on the radiator yourself if you feel cold. Didn't like the large dark oppressive shed outside in the garden opposite our room either,it blocked a lot of light, also the window in the bathroom was only frosted on the bottom half - top part clear, blind on window was wedged at top so couldn't be closed while you were taking a shower. No shower cap. Can't comment on breakfast as we didn't venture near the breakfast room. Comfort is definitely not a word I'd use to describe this room.
Peace and quiet, yet close to killarney and its facilities
Very friendly family run hotel, charming atmosphere and beautiful location. Enjoyed our stay and will certainly go back. Great food and very very peaceful.
The owner was very knowledgable of the local area and recomended an excellent scenic drive and a wonderful restaurant.
A little tired looking in places. The breakfast table routine didn't work very well as you had your room number on the table but other guests just sat where they wanted and were not told to move. So this meant a 15 minute wait to even sit down.
I loved the personal touch of having Conor give us advice on where to travel to during the day. Great breakfasts also.
Very friendly and helpful owners offering good quality touring advice. Peaceful surroundings but only a short drive from Kilarney - an ideal central location to explore Kerry.
The location was perfect for exploring the Ring of Kerry. The hosts were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The wife in particular was unbelievably helpful and kind and really the perfect Irish host! We wanted to go to see the Skellig Island and she loaned us jackets, hats and shoes. My sister loved the hat she was lent and so our host gave it to her to keep. We decided to stay a second night because it was such a welcoming hotel. The breakfast is excellent and we came away with the recipe for the Irish soda bread that our host had spent years perfecting. They have a very nice lounge area with tea and coffee facilities and a bar to have a glass of wine or other drink at the end of the day. My sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and I would definitely stay here again. It was, in addition, very good value for money.
Beautiful guest house with exceptional location in own grounds with stream. Connor’s welcome, knowledge of the area and advice was very useful and made our visit really enjoyable. Accommodation very good; beautiful and comfortable lounge and conservatory. Located within very short drive to Killarney centre where we had an excellent meal and very good service at Bricin’s restaurant .
Our stay at Gleann Fia Country House was a wonderfull experience. The hospitality shown to us by Bridget, Connor and their staff was second to none. Rooms were very comfortable, food was more than satisfying and the honour bar completed the atmosphere of a home from home. Overall we have to say we will return sooner rather than later. (Dubs) living in Wexford!!!!
A nice house on a park. The room were big and confortable. Good breakfast, nice staff.A Good stay
Connor and his wife , the hosts of Glean Fia were very friendly and helpful. They suggested a day trip itinerary that allowed us to explore Ireland off the beaten path that really enhanced our holiday. Glean Fia is in a great location- the house is in a quiet community just outside of shopping and scenic sites for travellers like Ross castle and Killarney National Park. The diverse library, complimentary tea and biscuits and honor bar helps this place feel like home. Its also a sanctuary for nature lovers due to the babbling river that runs alongside the house. Allow the hosts of Glean Fia welcome you to their lovely country home.
The faciities were extremely nice with a very comfortable and welcoming solarium complete with full honour system bar and refreshment cooler. The breakfast was everything you could want.
This B&B was run more like a business than a family B&B. While they provided a self service bar, their pices were no different that the pubs and resturaunts in town. And they didn't take kindly to us providing our own refreshments, commenting to us about a possible "corkage fee". The breakfast service was "mechanical" with little to no interaction.
Conor & Brigid are wonderful hosts - professional, warm and personal at the same time. Their attention to detail is second to none. We loved the late night tea/coffee in the conservatory, the extensively stocked library & watching the deer crossing the lawn! It was very very relaxing! We will go back again and will definitely recommend it to our friends.
Very friendly welcome. Lovely house in lovely grounds - do the river walk up into the woods and you may see a deer - we did! Good breakfast. Comfortable room. Excellent location for a holiday in the Killarney area.
Fantastically friendly welcome - Conor & Bridget - couldn't do enough for us. Lovely lounge & conservatory with honesty bar. Very homely. Wish we could have stayed longer. Location is also out of town but a 15 minute stroll to the centre.
